More About Me…

I was born and raised in a musical family where everyone plays at least one instrument. I started formal musical training when I was 4 years old. My first piano lesson was at Yamaha Music School where I developed my love in music because I had a very loving and patient teacher who I adored as a little girl. I always looked forward to our lesson once a week. My first public performance occurred when I was 10 with Kuang-Jen Symphony Orchestra where I attended preschool, kindergarten, and elementary school. When I was 15, I came to the United States to further study music and later attended Indiana University Jacob School of Music where I received both a BA and MM degrees.

My personal teaching philosophy is to help each child excel at his or her own speed and potential. I pay very close attention to each child as a whole. Students’ performance will vary during different stages of their lives. My goal is to foster a lifetime of musical development. I believe in the benefits of exposing students to different musical activities; such as singing, acting, dancing, or playing and experience different instruments. Most importantly, the students must develop a solid foundation and understanding on the subject. After all the learning process should be positive and enrich their everyday lives. I also believe that consistency and patience are two of the most important factors that contribute to success in any subject or educational discipline. Each one of us has its own timing; there is no rush to pass a certain level or get certificates at a specific age. I strongly believe that “the winner is the one who finishes the race.” I know music may not be the only or most important subject in one’s life, but this learning process will teach children consistency, patience, and endurance. I hope this learning experience will bring them happiness and improve their self-esteem.

I enjoy working with students young and old. This has taught me to be humble and always open to new ideas and learning new things.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, and cooking. I like to experience different cultures, their cuisine, and their perspectives on everyday life. One of my favorite things to do when I visit different countries or cities is to sit down at a local coffee shop and watch the people go by and experience the different vibes and energy.

Life is challenging, but I enjoy different stages in my life. Every day is full of abundant blessings from above. So, let’s enjoy, and fill it with music and harmony.
